The pandemic has left terrible results in the economy of many industries. Several companies have closed because of the coronavirus lockdown. This has made more than 16 million people lose their jobs, according to these statistics at The Guardian. And, this is not going to finish here, a recent Moody’s Analytics report revealed more than 80 million jobs at risk.
This phenomenon has increased the number of people asking for unemployment benefits, and not all of them receive this help because there’s a significant load of applicants. Now, the only way to stay ahead is to find new ways to work. That’s why the remote working trend has increased. Though, not everybody can work remotely if they don’t have the skills. Jobs in tech are in-demand these days because they allow you to keep working despite the coronavirus lockdown. Here, we’ll show you some of the most in-demand tech skills and where you can learn them during the quarantine.
Tech Jobs Where You Can Work Remotely
Saying that there are still companies hiring despite the COVID-19 situation sounds crazy, but the statement is true. Although many companies closed their doors, others in different industries are still running and thriving. Most tech careers allow you to keep working from anywhere you want. We’ve selected the ones that are still required during the coronavirus lockdown.
● Web and Software Development
Web development is an in-demand skill because most companies depend on the quality of their websites to generate sales. There are retail companies that can work with quick delivery or shipping. That’s why they need a functional website that interacts smoothly with users and has good visuals. According to a study that was conducted by Jai Sajnani through a Google Forms database, there are several tech companies currently hiring software developers to work remotely.
You can learn these skills at Bloc or Flatiron school. Both offer long and short-term bootcamps with different payment methods that go from deferred tuition, loan financing, or up-front payment.
● Data Science
Data science is one of the most in-demand skills and it is future-proofed. Experts believe that the economy will depend on AI and machine learning jobs, which are both subcategories of data science. A data scientist is in charge of analyzing data to come up with actionable insight. Some of the activities you’ll do in this occupation are to scrape, filter, and analyze data. You must also be able to work with data visualization. Artificial Intelligence and machine learning are skills that allow you to program machines to simulate humans’ actions.
